Shane "EXTRAORDINAIRE" Sibert, Deputy Chief Special Operations

During the first quarter of 2006 the members of the Special Operations Team finished installing equipment on BONITA 500.  Three additional months were spent training personnel on the use of the equipment, truck operations, and drivers training.

The Special Operations Coordinators received their required annual training.  Additionally, we continued the awareness training with all the members of the department in water rescue, trench rescue, confined space rescue, and vehicle extrication.  We also conducted a 16 hour rescue skin diver course for new members of our water rescue team.

Personnel completed numerous in-house hazardous materials training programs.  In addition, the District brought in an outside hazardous materials training company to conduct several specialized training sessions which were of great benefit to our

                                       personnel.
