Suppression Operation Functions
The District responds to a
wide range of emergency incidents, including all types of fires, medical
and trauma emergencies, vehicle collision, special operation incidents,
and public service calls. |
  |
2010 marked the 10th year of providing
non-transport advanced emergency medical care. There are currently eight
units serving Bonita Springs, including four engines, three rescue
units, and one ladder truck. All apparatus are staffed with both EMTs
and Paramedics. |
The Suppression Division maintained staffing levels of 3 battalion
chiefs, 24 lieutenants, and 53 firefighters, for a total of 80
personnel; 37 paramedica and 43 emergency medical technicians. |
Urban Search and Rescue response teams are
designed to provide a coordinated response to disasters in urban
environments. Florida task Force 6 is available 24 hours a day, locally
or nationally. The task force can be mobilized once an affected disaster
area exceeds their own response capabilities. |

The District's preventative maintenance program has dramatically reduced
costs while improving reliability and safety. This program located at
Bonita Springs Fire Station Five, has allowed us to come substantially
under budget. |
In the past year, special operations members
completed training in several areas including structural collapse,
trench rescue, water rescue, hazardous materials, and joint training
with Florida Task Force 6- Urban Search & Rescue. |
