"I have great respect for the Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District; the organization, each of its firefighters, and the entire staff behind the scenes. At the same time I have a responsibility to the people and the reputation of the City of Bonita Springs. I will continue to represent the people and the city by managing this district properly to assure that injury or death from fire be eliminated, and that emergency medical care is of the highest level possible. These goals can only be accomplished by a strong management team working with capable and dedicated men and women having the same commitment to duty.
The economic state of the country is affecting the man on the street; he is unsure of government’s performance and he is unsure if his government is doing the best job possible with the tax dollars he pays. My message today is intended to tell the public that their fire department is leading the way in restoring their faith in the government of Bonita Springs. Our actions will speak louder than my words. At no time will I contribute to words, actions or decisions that would undermine the ability to perform our mission. And at no time will I stand by silently to improper attacks or verbal insults being cast upon any of us by anyone.
I thank the members of the District for their continuing demonstrations of good faith in the changes and sacrifices that are being asked of them."
